• advancement of scientific research on micro- and nanostructures;
• development of advanced microscopic and spectroscopic methods for the analysis of micro- and nanostructures of materials;
• understanding and establishing quantitative correlations between engineering synthesis methods, structure, interfaces, and properties of functional materials and thin films;
• fostering collaboration among researchers, institutions, and industry;
• education and training of young researchers and students;
• promotion of micro- and nanoscience and cooperation with print and electronic media;
• development of international collaboration with related societies and associations;
• organization of conferences, seminars, workshops, and other scientific meetings;
• publication of materials and promotion of research results.
